Boomerang from Australia

LZ3 is representing Australia in the Rugby World Cup 2011 at MHP. That's why we are learning all about Australia. Our mystery object is week is a Boomerang.

Today we looked at boomerang and it had a kangaroo, some flowers and two snakes on it. It was hard and had lots of patterns on it. It was made out of wood. We have to throw it properly so it can come back to you. I liked the boomerang. It was fun touching the boomerang.

Making Yummy Pancake

LZ3 and LZ2 made pancakes. First we got a big bowl and Mrs Lal put flour, sugar, milk and butter inside it. Next Miss Lee cracked some eggs and mixed them with an egg beater. After that Miss Lee put the egg into the big bow. Then Mrs Lal mixed them really hard. Then we all had a turn at making our own pancakes. We poured the mixture in a pan and flipped it over with a spoon when it started bubbling. Finally we had to choose a topping to go on the pancakes. We had to choose from golden syrup, jam and butter or sprinkles. The butter that we used was from our trip to the Howick Historical Village. We really enjoyed making and eating our pancakes.

Our Trip to the Howick Historical Village

Yesterday LZ3 went on a bus to visit Howick Historical Village. First we went to an old school to look at all the different types of toys that children use to play with in the olden days. Next we went in a house to make some butter. You used cow's milk to make the butter. We even got to taste the butter on some crackers. It was delicious. We could taste the salt. After that we went to the outdoor games and we played lots of games. We rode on wooden horses, played ten pin bowling and walked on stilts.  From there we went to another big house and we learnt how people washed clothes and made tea in the olden days without electricity. Our final activity was to go around the village. It was so much fun as we pumped water and played with some more toys. There ladies also showed us how to get water out of the well too. We really enjoyed our visit to the past.

Our Favourites

In LZ3 we are exploring ways to collect, analyse and report information about our favourites. We are learning to use the words such as most and least while reading the results on the pictograph. We found that most children in LZ3 like playing with soft toys and also our favourite fruit is apples. What is your favourite fruit?
